Self-Care For The Soul

We hear the term ‘self-care’ all the time.  What most people think of, though, when they hear ‘self-care’, is a massage, manicure, getting your hair done, etc.

However, I’m referring to something deeper, on an emotional, physical, and spiritual level.  I’m not just talking about superficial stuff.

The self-care I’m looking for is more like soul self-care.

Fulfilling your core needs, beyond the physical mani/pedi or massage, is what we should all be striving for.  Sure, these things feel good for the moment, and allow you to take physical time for yourself, but do they add any real soul nourishment and betterment?

WHAT DOES SELF-CARE FOR THE SOUL LOOK LIKE?

  1. Self-care is getting down to the root cause of your unhappiness, anxiety, or any other unresolved feelings you may have.

  2. Self-care means figuring out who you are at this point in your life. Are you still living to impress others, or are you embracing who you are and honouring your highest self?

  3. Self-care is defining your relationship(s), speaking your wants and desires, and not allowing others to take that away from you.

  4. Self-care is developing your spirituality and making it your own. Find what resonates with you and where you are in your spiritual journey, not someone else’s.  Take the time to discover your spirituality and what that looks like for you. It’s different for everyone.

  5. Self-care is reconnecting with yourself on a deeper level.  Going within with meditation, grounding yourself, and being present. Being in nature is a great grounding exercise.

  6. Self-care is releasing stored or trapped energy from your being. Releasing old, negative energy, and allowing yourself to feel lighter. It’s also developing the ability to decipher when you carry this heavy energy, and/or if it belongs to others. Learn about the Emotion Code .

  7. Self-care removes toxic people from your life, or limits their interactions. Please don’t allow them to drain your life force.

  8. Self-care is knowing when to take a break, and having time to yourself before burning yourself completely out.

  9. Self-care is taking care of the only body you have. Nourish your body by eating healthy foods, giving it the attention and ability to be the best it can be, to carry you throughout your life.

  10. Self-care is taking time to read spiritual books. Feeding your soul with warm words that allow you to grow on your journey. These spiritual books will transform you.

  11. Self-care is self-reflection. Take time to check in with yourself and reflect on yourself, your life, and where you are and want to go.

Self-care can also mean all the other things, like getting your nails done, hair coloured and cut, shopping, or getting a facial, etc.

These types of self-care rituals just don’t always allow you to really be present and truly take care of yourself for long-term results.

Especially if you’re on your phone scrolling the whole time. I only say this because I was recently at a nail salon and, as I looked around, every person there was scrolling on their phones.

It allowed me to see how disconnected we, as a society, have become, even when you’re supposedly taking time for yourself or having self-care time.

These external things make you feel good and happy for a few minutes or hours, but then it fades.  True self-care will stay with you and bring you a sense of peace internally.

ENERGETIC COMMUNICATION WITH YOUR SOUL

Understanding energy for self-care is not just a lifestyle choice, nor a fad in new age circles that is considered “woo woo”. It is the basis of our existence, and is vital to the establishment of our personal well-being.

Our body, organs, cells, and hormones are all connected through the channeling of energy. The machines we use to detect diseases, such as MRIs, EMGs, EEGs, or CAT scans, measure frequencies as they use energy as an information system.

Ironically, we often overlook the obvious, our bodies work the same way! Our energy body is a communication center towards our health and wellbeing.

The science of Quantum Physics discovered what ancient cultures embraced; that energy truly is the basis of life. It was proven that the atom, the smallest structure in the universe, is made up of 94.5% empty space. This revealed that what you see, touch, and sense is only 5% of reality. Your physical body only represents 5% of who you are; you are 95% vibrating Energy.

This principle alone opens up infinite possibilities within the human experience, because it shows us we are entirely much more than material beings of matter; we are energy beings and have the ability to change through our cellular bodies. The cells within our bodies contain and emit electricity! Every single body function that you neurologically process involves electrical activity (Energy).

TIPS TO UNDERSTAND THE WORLD OF ENERGY

  1. An Open Mind – If you are a skeptic, you need to step out of your comfort zone and start listening to that beautiful intuition of yours! It is so hard to understand energy if you are still stuck in the boxed-in conformists’ viewpoint of society. You have to have an open mind and be aware that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

  2. BELIEF – Your beliefs power your reality. That is it right there. What you think, you inevitably become, so, if you don’t believe in energy, you are forcing your mind into a very limited reality of the world around you. It is your beliefs that power your intentions, that you think and feel daily, which begin attracting into your life. So it really is as simple as that if you don’t believe, you won’t be able to see or feel energy.

  3. Visualisation“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” – Einstein.

The subconscious is powerful, it is the epitome of the spirit world and our divine connection to the feminine energy. Our intuition, our emotions, spatial awareness, our creativity, present mind, long-term memory, and even our ability to visualise ideas, all come from the power of our subconscious mind. Therefore, learning to use visualisation and your imagination to understand these concepts is key to helping your mind open up to energy.

  4. Discipline – I’m not necessarily talking about meditation, although that is the best discipline, but the ability to OBSERVE and consciously become aware of your surroundings is crucial. Meditation is one of those steps, but the real beauty of meditation is when you can step off the floor and learn to do it anywhere. When we discipline our minds to become consciously aware of our surroundings and FOCUS through listening, we open the door to inner stillness.

As we begin to acknowledge this stillness, our mind relaxes into the present NOW. When we observe through inner stillness of mind, our consciousness  awakens to infinite possibilities, including being able to see energy.

  5. Cognitive Dissonance –  The ego is a teacher, nothing more. If we ignore or shun our egos, we are not embracing our full potentiality as a human being. The cognitive dissonance we experience is there for a reason, it's teaching us to let go. When you feel cognitive dissonance, such as anger, resentment, jealousy, envy, depression, victim mentality, instead of recycling that emotion, learn to question it.

  6. Cognitive dissonance is essentially a resistance to letting go of the things we cannot control or change. So, when you feel this way, you need to find the endurance to let go and release.

This is where the magic happens, when we go past the endurance and learn to let go. This is when we open up to the world of energy.
