Enliven and cleanse your skin

Dry Brush - 2.jpg

Did you know one third of your bodies toxins are removed through your skin?

Since your skin is your largest organ, we need to take advantage of this to improve our health, not just take it for granted.

Whilst I was luxuriating in Mumma Bali’s indulgent pampering, I was called to draw your attention to another Ayurvedic therapy.

When your dead skin cells accumulate, it becomes impossible to excrete the toxins that are trapped within the skin.

That’s where Dry Brushing can help. In as little as five minutes a day, you can stimulate the lymph nodes, improve digestion and even help reduce your cellulite.

Your lymphatic system is what your body relies on to detoxify and remove accumulated waste. If your lymph nodes are not functioning correctly, waste accumulates in your body causing digestive issues, weight gain and many inflammatory illnesses.

How to Dry Brush

Using these quick and simple steps, you can improve your body’s natural detoxification process.

If possible, buy a brush with natural bristles and a long handle. This will help to access hard to reach places like your back.

~ Use long sweeping strokes over your arms and legs and always towards your heart.

~ Overlap each area several times to allow the dead skin to be removed and remember to be gentle on your chest due to the thinner skin.

~ Make sure you give the back of your arms the attention they deserve, we tend to accumulate bumps here due to the clogged pores near the lymph nodes.

~ Brush your stomach from right to left in a circular motion, always in an upside down U pattern to help stimulate your digestive tract.

~ When it comes to the boney areas like your elbows, knees, ankles and heels also brush in a circular motions.

~ Don’t forget your back and the backs of the legs and bottom, we also tend to be especially dry in these areas.

When you’ve completed your entire body, jump in the shower to hydrate the skin.

Follow with Abhyanga, another Ayurvedic Therapy of self-oil massage.
